About the schools partnership
Many of the Geography departments in secondary schools in North Devon have built relationships that have flourished over the last fifteen years.
The North Devon Geography Consortium has enabled close ties to develop between a number of schools in the area. The common tie has always been the GCSE specification, the Bristol Project.
From 2003, funding from the Government has encouraged some aspects of these links to develop further. Initially, West Buckland, Park and Braunton Schools developed links around the themes of the weather and coastal geomorphology.
More recently, Pilton and Bideford Schools have helped develop the links further through the geographical area of North Devon's Biosphere Reserve.
Part of the success of this project has seen links made with local organisations. We have developed our links further with the Explore Braunton group. This development has seen the contribution towards purchase of Node Explorers which can be used within the biosphere. These hand held devices are powered by GPS and are available for use both as school hire and individual hire. More information about these can be found here.
